Silencer inter-component ground line noise killer

Ground is one half of the signal that your HiFi is attempting to reproduce with accuracy and realism. It is the part that the other half, the “hot” signal, needs to rigidly refer to, in order to create a truly accurate and fully detailed sound stage. Grounds between components should be at zero Volts with no voltages present (noise). However cables, metal cases and tone arms all act as antennas for noise, collecting it from the air and by capacitive and inductive coupling with other cables, internal circuits and components within equipment.

The most expensive cartridges, DACs, pre-amps and amplifiers cannot deliver a truly faithful performance if the “ground” is moving, shaking and wobbling with the noise that is perpetually present on every ground line.

The Puritan Silencer is designed as an additional connection link between HiFi / AV components. Utilising the acclaimed technologies developed for the GroundMasterCity and City Ultra products, Silencer provides an alternative route for undesirable ground currents. A complex internal structure firstly absorbs and then neutralises the noise voltages present across all frequency bands, by converting to harmless heat. Connection of the Silencer can be from chassis to chassis, signal ground to signal ground, tone-arm ground to pre-amp ground and appropriate cables are included for all eventualities.

The Puritan Silencer is a part of a family of their products that comprehensively address all aspects relating to the control of ground noise. Silencer may be used on its own or to compliment and reinforce the actions of GroundMaster, GroundMaster City, Groundmaster City Ultra and Routemaster products.

Silencer mirrors the signal ground route between two components with a separate noise absorptive path, at a higher impedance so as not to interfere with the actual signal ground path. Connection is simply made between the ground points of components in parallel to the normal interconnect cables, except for tone arms where the tone arm ground wire connects via the Silencer to the MC preamp ground terminal. A single Silencer may be used in the most effective position or multiple units may be used through the system as desired. Connections can be made to ground posts when equipped or to the signal grounds of equipment accessed by spare RCA terminals, or to equipment case work. Connectors are provided for all of these possibilities.

Supplied Accessories:

Included with the Silencer are 3 x 500 mm male to female cables. The male ends plug into the Silencer and a third (spare) cable is supplied in case a longer cable is required for a connection in which case the cable length can be doubled by plugging male into female. Adaptors are supplied with male ends to plug into the female ends of the cables. These are spades x 2, RCA x 2, RCA cheater x 1 and a 4 mm banana plug with screw wire fixing to accept a bare wire end x 1. Thus catering for all common connection possibilities.
